Day 1:
Kigali
Murakaza neza! Welcome to Kigali, Rwanda’s vibrant capital. You’ll be transferred to your hotel, the historic Hotel des Mille Collines, where a welcome meeting will take place at 6 pm.
If you arrive early, explore the city at your own pace, sample local coffee, visit Nyamirambo for grilled tilapia, or relax at a café.
Tonight, join your leader for dinner at a popular East African restaurant with live music, cocktails, and authentic regional flavours.
Day 2:
Kigali
This morning, visit Ntarama Church and Nyamata Genocide Memorial Centre to reflect on the tragic history of the Rwandan genocide.
Then explore the Genocide Museum for a powerful insight into the resilience of the Rwandan people.
In the afternoon, enjoy a local lunch before touring Kigali and Kimironko Market, with the evening free to explore at your own pace.
Day 3:
Bwindi Impenetrable Forrest
After breakfast, journey from Kigali to Bwindi National Park in Uganda, where you’ll spend three nights at the stunning Gorilla Heights Lodge.
Perched on Nteko Ridge, the lodge offers sweeping views of the Bwindi Forest, home to half the world’s mountain gorillas and the jagged Virunga Mountains. Each solar-powered cottage features a private balcony overlooking the canopy.
This evening, meet a field veterinarian from Gorilla Doctors for an exclusive insight into their vital work protecting endangered gorillas through medical care and conservation.
Day 4:
Bwindi Impenetrable Forrest
Rise early for a briefing at the park headquarters before setting out on your gorilla trek in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.
The trek can be challenging, but the chance to see rare mountain gorillas in their natural habitat makes it unforgettable.
Local porters can assist with your pack, offering comfort and supporting the community. Spend an hour observing gorillas up close, watch them play, groom, and interact under the watchful eye of a silverback. Then enjoy a picnic lunch in the heart of the rainforest.
Day 5:
Bwindi Impenetrable Forrest
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast on the terrace with forest views, then choose to relax or join an optional second gorilla trek.
In the afternoon, explore the Buniga Batwa Cultural Trail with a local guide, learning about the Batwa people’s traditional forest life, including foraging, tool-making, and fire‑making techniques.
Finish the day with dinner in the lodge’s terrace restaurant, surrounded by stunning mountain scenery.
Day 6:
Kigali
After breakfast today, depart the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and begin the journey back over the border into Kigali. After arriving at the capital, your adventure will come to an end at around 1 pm.
