Getting the best Airfare - Navigating complex seasonal pricing of airfares

Europe Early Bird season is upon us and excellent offers from Airlines, Tour Operators and Cruise Lines etc are on offer to secure bookings early.

A trend that is emerging in the Airline Industry however is that year on year, Airlines are becoming more advanced in their knowledge of peaks and troughs of demand and this is increasing the complexity of navigating airfare season changes for consumers. It's not rocket science though so let's explore what it looks like!

Firstly, your airfare price will largely be dictated by your departure date which makes it critical for travellers to know when the seasons change as moving your departure 1 day either side might yield you massive savings!

In the below graph mapping out Emirates Early Bird Fares for 2020, you can see that there 10 season changes between February and July with some season changes creating a price difference of nearly $500 between 1 day and the next. It can even come down to hours see example below

Example 1: Sally departs for London on the 11th July on EK431 leaving Brisbane at 10:50pm - Sally paid $2125

Example 2: Lucy departs for London on the 12th July on EK433 leaving Brisbane at 2:35am (less than 4 hours after Sally) - Lucy paid $1674 which is a saving of $451 for the difference of 4 hours!)

So being strategic about how you structure your holiday and particularly your departure date is essential to maximising the best value from your trip. Most other airlines will follow a similar pattern to their seasonal pricing so if you would like to know more about Emirates or another Airlines best pricing please let us know. We want you to invest more in your experiences at your destinations and less on getting there!

Lastly be aware that the days just before and just after higher seasons book up quickly as people look to take advantage of the better fares!

Note: Prices correct as at 11th September 2019 and are a broad representation of pricing and do not necessarily reflect
